A single-use virtual card is one of the payment delivery methods we offer.
This delivery method can be chosen by both the vendor and the payor.
This article explains how to process a single-use virtual card and contains the following sections:
What’s included in a single-use virtual card
Single-use virtual cards look like any other credit card and include the following details:
- The 16-digit card number is automatically generated and can be processed like any other card-not-present transaction.
- Expiration date - set for 30 days from the payment day.
- 3-digit CVC number.
For your convenience, the full address of the card issuer appears on the card details page right below the single-use virtual card.
How to process your single-use virtual card
Processing a single-use virtual card is straightforward and works just like any other card transaction. You will receive an email with your single-use virtual card details.
The email subject line will be: “Accept $XXX payment from Payorname”
Follow these steps once you receive the email:
1 - Select Get card details. You’ll be taken to the page with the full card details.
2 - Select Copy card number.
3 - Enter the 16-digit virtual card number into your existing point-of-sale (POS) terminal, just as you would with any standard card-not-present payment.
4 - Enter the amount.
❗Important:
- You can only process a single-use virtual card once, and it should be for the total payment amount. If you enter a partial amount, the action may look like it worked, but it will actually be declined.
For example:
- Payment amount: $500.00
- Action: The vendor attempts to process the card for a partial payment of $100.00.
- Result: The transaction will be declined by the card issuer, and the virtual card will be locked. The vendor will not be able to process the remaining $400.00.
If this happens, contact our support team.
- Use a POS terminal that can process credit card transactions. This can be a physical or virtual terminal that lets businesses process online or remote transactions without the actual card.
- If your card's POS terminal asks for your zip code, enter 10003.
That’s it. You completed a single-use virtual card payment.
